Mature skin needs extra support as skin turnover slows down and moisturize is easily lost – not to worry though! The Flourish & Nourish Serum is packed with exactly what mature skin needs to stay soft, supple, and balanced.

The ingredients you’ll discover in this serum help improve skin cell turnover giving you a more even skin tone and texture. As we age, our skin also needs extra hydration. The F&N Serum provides water to dull, parched skin, plumping it and minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. On top of hydration, this serum also reintroduces essential nutrients that our skin loses over time. These nutrients also help to combat years of damage caused by environmental stresses like the sun and pollution.

In a nutshell

  • Supports skin cell turnover
  • Hydrate and softens up skins’ texture (which reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines)
  • Provides anti-inflammatory properties
  • Reintroduces essential nutrients that are depleted over time
  • Addresses years of environmental damage and stress
  • Reverses dull, parched skin
  • Helps balance hormones
  • 100% natural

I already use a moisturizer! Why add a serum?

I don’t believe in adding more products to your skin care routine then needed, so you might be wondering why I’ve added serums to my line!

First off, I use them all the time! Why? Because serums are liquid tonics that are packed with vitamins, anti-oxidants and natural ingredients that contain active properties that target specific concerns. So if there’s something specific you want to work on, serums are an easy way to add some extra oomph to your routine!

Secondly, serums are formulated to penetrate deep into your skin so they can heal and target specific concerns. They are able to penetrate deeper than moisturizers and can help restore skin to a balanced state (and isn’t that the point?). Plus, they are non-comedogenic, so no need to worry about clogged pores or a greasy residue.

Although serums can be moisturizing, their main purpose is to add nutrients deep into your skin that a moisturizer isn’t able to reach and keep the hydration levels in your skin stable. Having said that, keep your moisturizer in your routine! Applying your moisturizer after you apply a serum will lock the serum into your skin allowing the serum to do its best work without evaporating into the air.

Find out more about these icons here.

  1. Apply your serum after applying your mist (if you’re using one), and before your moisturizer. While moisturizers help lock serums into your skin, serums help lock mists into your skin! You don’t have to wait for the mist to fully absorb before applying your serum but you should wait a few minutes between applying your serum and moisturizer.
  2. Apply any time after you wash your face (hands, or other affected area).
  3. During the winter, our skin needs extra help staying hydrated and protected from the elements. So, layer up your protection by using a mist, serum and moisturizer before heading out into the cold (or spending a lot of time in the dry indoor air!).

    QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

    Ask a Question
    • I'm wondering if I can use this serum at night to help with fine lines and use the balance serum in the morning to help with hormonal cystic acne?

      Thanks for you question.
And, absolutely! You can totally use a  different serum in the evening than you use in the morning (and vice versa). This is an especially good idea when trying to target two different sets of concerns.

Also, if you want to turn your PM serum into a super powered night time treatment once a week, here’s how: instead of applying your serum after your hydrator, skip it and apply your moisturizer (so you’d cleanse, then hydrate, then apply your moisturizer). After you moisturizer has absorbed, put twice as much serum as you normally would into the palm of your hand. Briefly rub your palms together, then pat on the serum. Don’t rub - just pat on and leave. You don’t need to worry about it absorbing right away or moving it around - the idea is to pat it on so it creates a protective barrier from dry air trying to steal hydration, AND so throughout the night your skin can continually draw in the serum and put it to work - it’s like providing nourishing ingredients to your skin as it needs it without having to continually apply more product. The only thing to keep in mind when using a Batty’s Bath serum as a night time treatments like this is that you’ll want to put a towel down on your pillow if you go to bed before most of the serum has absorbed. This is what I do, I load up on the serum once a week, put a towel down on my pillow, go to bed and read on my back for a while. Eventually I roll over and fall asleep on my side if I haven’t fallen asleep reading lol! Basically I give my skin a good amount of time to absorb the serum - and if it doesn’t fully absorb by the time I go to sleep, no big deal. In fact that’s what I want - I want to provide my skin with nutrients to draw on all night long. And it’s ok if you wake up and it hasn’t fully absorbed - although I suspect it will have. Either way, your skin will have gotten the royal treatment all night long. In the morning, just follow your usual morning skin care routine.

Note that you don't need to use a serum at night like the way I described. You can use a serum at night the same way you do in the morning. Just thought I’d offer another suggestion for using serums at night - especially if you get to the end of the week and haven’t used your seeums as much as you’re like, or if your skin needs some extra TLC (which is often the case for many of us in the winter).

      I hope that helps :)

    • I use Pure Amore Gel cleanser and then I mix the Hydra Gel and the Forever Young Moisturizer together and apply. Can I add the serum to this routine? Thank you!

Thanks so much for your question. :)

Sure! You can definitely add a serum to your routine. My suggestion would be to wash with Pure Amore Gel Cleanser, then apply Hydra Healing Gel, then mix the serum and Forever Young Facial Moisturizer together. So in this case, you'll change what you're mixing with the Forever Young so you'll have the best possible application order for absorption. When mixing the serum with the Forever Young, you'll want to put the amount of Forever Young you usually apply in the palm of your hand, then add a drop or two of serum. You may only need to follow this altered routine with the serum in the evening, but see how your skin feels - if it likes this altered routine in the morning and the evening, great! If not, don't worry about changing things up for the morning - just work the serum into the routine in the evening.

      I hope that helps. :)

    • when do I use it since i use the calendula oat & the hydrating gel

Hi there! Thanks for your question. We usually recommend using serums after your hydrator and either before or after your moisturizer. For a consistent low dose, apply and allow to absorb before moisturizer both AM and PM. If you want a high dose, apply a heavier layer over your moisturizer to be absorbed slowing overnight. Hope this helps :)
